How Often Do I Have To Services Compressor ?

Compressors are an essential part of many industrial and commercial operations, providing compressed air for everything from powering pneumatic tools to operating HVAC systems. To ensure your compressor runs smoothly and efficiently, regular maintenance is necessary. But how often should you service your compressor?

The frequency of compressor servicing depends on several factors, including the compressor’s age, usage, and environment. Here are some general guidelines to follow:

Daily Maintenance : Perform daily maintenance tasks such as checking the condensate drain from the air receiver tank. Drain the condensate from the air receiver tank to avoid rust and corrosion from forming in the tank.

  • Weekly Maintenance : Perform weekly maintenance tasks such as draining condensate from the compressor air/oil tank and checking the oil level. Add oil if the level is below the minimum line.
  • Monthly Maintenance : Perform monthly maintenance tasks such as cleaning the air inlet filter. Clean the filter to prevent dust and debris from entering the compressor and affecting its performance.
  • Six-Monthly Maintenance : Perform six-monthly maintenance tasks such as checking belt tension and all oil line and air line connections for leaks. Tighten any loose connections to prevent air leaks.
  • Annual Maintenance : Perform annual maintenance tasks such as changing the oil, oil filter, and air inlet filter if they are dirty. Clean the dirt from the fins and surface of the air/oil cooler to maintain airflow.
  • Two-Year Maintenance : Change the air/oil separator filter every two years to maintain compressor efficiency.

It’s essential to keep track of the hours of operation on your compressor to determine when it’s time for service. Depending on how often you use your compressor, the manufacturer’s recommended servicing intervals may vary. It’s always best to consult your compressor manual and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for servicing and maintenance.

If you’re running your compressor occasionally, then annual service may be sufficient. On the other hand, if you’re running your compressor continuously, quarterly service may be necessary to avoid any avoidable issues.

Regular compressor servicing can help prevent costly repairs or replacements and keep your compressor running at optimal efficiency. Keeping a log of maintenance performed on the compressor can also help you keep track of what has been done and when it was done.

In conclusion, servicing your compressor is essential to avoid downtime and decreased productivity. Following the manufacturer’s recommended service and maintenance schedule and tracking the hours of operation on your compressor will ensure that your compressor continues to run smoothly and efficiently.
